According to the World Happiness Report for 2018, the UAE holds the first place for the fourth consecutive years in the Happiness index of the Arab world. Its global ranking is 20th among 156 countries. This does not come as a surprise given that the UAE has strategic activities to sustain the happiness of locals and expatriates. One of these activities is the 2019 Happiness Day Event for the employees of the Ministry of Interior. It is organized by Fazaa, a subsidiary of the Social Security Fund, and is being held at the Abu Dhabi Exhibition Centre from March 18 to March 20, 2019. Skyline University College (SUC) supports this event as an education partner. Skyline awards scholarships in both undergraduate and graduate categories to Fazaa card-holders.
On the first day of event, Mr. Bilal Banat, Assistant Manager for Business Development for Skyline, met with Major General Salim Ali Al Shamsi, Assistant Undersecretary for Resources and Support Services at the Ministry of Interior, Brigadier Nasser Khadem Al Kaabi, Director General of Happiness at the Ministry of Interior, and Major General Ahmed Nasser Al Raise, Inspector General of the Ministry of Interior and introduce the programs of SUC.
Skyline University faculty members do more than help students excel academically. They also make an effort in organizing Health and Wellness seminars to encourage students to improve and maintain their health so they can be more productive in their studies.
Earlier today, Dr. Wilson Gachiri, in partnership with Thumbay Hospital, organized a free blood pressure and blood sugar checkup. Students also learned about heart diseases and ways to prevent them through a seminar conducted by Dr. Jayakumar, an Internal Medicine Specialist at Thumbay Hospital.
As part of the 45 Days Road to Fitness activities organized by the Human Resource Department (HRD), the faculty and staff of Skyline did Tae-bo sessions and Tabata workout last Thursday. Tae-Bo is a combination of martial arts and boxing with some dance moves. Tabata, on the other hand, is a fat burning workout which consists of eight rounds of 20 seconds of work, followed by 10 seconds or rest.
Through the guidance of Val '08’s trainers, Skyline employees did not only burned calories but also enjoyed the workout sessions.
One day refresher Tour guide program for SCTDA (Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority) Tour Guides was successfully conducted by Skyline University College Sharjah, on March 13, 2019.
The refresher Program covered various topics that could further enhance tourist guides’ knowledge and skills to help them excel in their field and also encourage sustainable tourism in Sharjah.
The topics included , Emerging trends in Tourism, Sharjah culture, heritage, its history, Sharjah attractions, Happines, Innovation and Sustainability related to Tourism.
The program was delivered by Skyline University college faculty members Dr. Amitabh Upadhya, Dr. Osama Ali Thawabeh, Dr. Mohit Vij, and Dr. Kakul Agha. SCTDA representatives Mr. Amani Hadi Al Gteli, Manager - Industry Professional Training Department, SCTDA and Ms. Hessa Eisa Al Mutawa, Executive - Industry Professional Training Department, were present during the training.
To improve employee engagement and inculcate the spirit of teamwork at SUC, the Human Resource Department organized a cricket match for its Happy Hour activity this March 14, 2019.
To enhance the educational experience of students, our faculty members invite lecturers from various industries. Doing this helps students build connections between learning and the real world. It gives them a different perspective.
Last Wednesday, Dr. Anil Roy Dubey and Dr. Haitham Muhammad Musa Alzoubi invited Mr. Umar Khan Niazi, Regional Manager of ABC International Ltd, to be the guest lecturer for their MBA classes. Mr. Khan discussed International Business.
Recently, the members of Skyline Toastmasters Club held a meeting with the theme of “Innovation in the Workplace.” Toastmaster Rowell was the Toastmaster of the day.
The regular Toastmasters interactions aim to give the club members opportunities to hone their speaking skills. For students, being active in Toastmasters meetings can boost their confidence in speaking in front of an audience and performing different pre-defined roles in each meeting can help them become better leaders. As part of its goal of preparing students for the professional world, Skyline encourages both undergraduate and graduate students to actively participate in Toastmasters club meetings.

Skyline University College organizes various activities to get students ready for the tough competition of the professional world. On March 11, 2019, Skyline conducted a CV building and professional grooming workshop for students. Ms. Salin Amanda Luis, a Perception Strategist, and Ms. Kavitha Praveen, a Human Resource Manager, gave workshops on CV building and tips on the proper grooming and maintaining of professional appearance in the workplace.
Skyline invited a fitness coach earlier today to teach the faculty and staff to do focus workout sessions. The employees sweated it out with abs exercises aiming to strengthen one’s midsection, planking to tone the glutes and hamstrings, and jumping jack workout to stimulate heart muscles. This fitness workout is part of the 45 Days Road to Fitness activities organized by the Human Resource Department.
Skyline welcomed 150 participants of the Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019 at SUC campus on March 10, 2019. SUC’s Services Committee, in partnership with the National Executive Committee of the Emirate of Sharjah for the Special Olympics 2019 and Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services, organized an interactive day with performances from Skyline students.
Consul General of Pakistan in Nigeria, H.E. Ahmed I. Yakasai visited Skyline University College (SUC), Sharjah Campus, on March 6, 2019. He was welcomed by SUC Dean, Prof. Mohammad In’airat, Director of Marketing and Creative Communications, Mr. Rakesh Gaur, Head of Academics – School of Business, Dr. Ajith Kumar, Director of Student Services, Dr. Osama Ali Thawabeh, and Head of Quality Assurance, Dr. Sudhakar Kota.
The SUC team gave an overview of Skyline University and its pursuit of academic excellence which spans three decades. His Excellency was also briefed about SUC’s expansion plans. Mr. Gaur gave him a tour around the campus.
Skyline University College welcomed 39 students and 3 teachers from Vidya Prasarak Mandal, Thane on February 28, 2019. The students from various departments such as Arts, Commerce, Science, Law, Polytechnic and Management Studies, were welcomed by the faculty and staff of SUC.
Dr. Ajith Kumar, Head of Academics – School of Business and Dr. Deepak Kalra, Head of Academics – School of IT, introduced the different programs of SUC. The students from India had a tour around the campus and they got to see the amenities and facilities available for students.
