Academic Affairs Council

Introduction

The Academic Affairs Council is formed to facilitate the smooth operations of the institution. This council is responsible for managing different academics and academic support operations of Skyline. The council is a committee of operational heads of the university and comprises of the Vice-Chancellor, who is the Chair of the Academic Affairs council, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, who is the Vice-Chair of the Academic Affairs council, the Dean of School of Business, the Dean-School of School of Computing, the Director of Academic Support Services, the Registrar, the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Director of Government and Public Relations and the Director of Institutional Research, Quality Assurance, Outreach and Accreditation, who are responsible for the implementation of strategies and the daily operations of Skyline University College.

Goals

  1. To oversee the operations of the departments to achieve the Vision and Mission of the institution
  2. To identify the gaps in their operations and suggest changes for the satisfaction of the stakeholders
  3. To resolve inter-departmental issues and facilitate better coordination in accomplishing departmental goals
  4. To report the progress for the semester and the annual operations to the Vice-Chancellor

VC

The Vice-Chancellor

The Vice-Chancellor is the Chair of the AAC and is responsible for pursuing the Vision and Mission of SUC and provide leadership to the Academic Affairs Council (AAC) members, faculty members, staff and students. The Vice-Chancellor is responsible for the operations of SUC leading to the achievement of the overall goals and objectives of the Academics and Academic Support Services. The Vice-Chancellor shall also oversee and co-ordinate the academic affairs of the institution so that the stipulated standards are maintained and monitored in accordance with the institutional goals, policies and procedures. The Vice-Chancellor shall coordinate the overall operations of the departments, ensuring integrity within the guidelines of SUC. The Vice-Chancellor is also responsible for obtaining accreditation at the national and international levels.

GOALS

1. To ensure the achievement of the Vision and Mission of SUC
2. To oversee the effectiveness of operations in different Academic Support Services departments and committees
3. To ensure the effective implementation of Institutional Effectiveness tools by all committees
4. To ensure the effective implementation of a Feedback System
5. To exercise control and review progress over the university’s activities
6. To oversee student enrollment, progression and satisfaction
7. To evaluate the performance of AAC members, faculty members and staff
8. To update the Board of Trustees on the institutional performance
9. To liaise with and provide information to regulatory agencies and all stakeholders

DY.VC

Deputy Vice Chancellor

The Deputy Vice Chancellor reports to the Vice Chancellor and assists the VC in handling the responsibilities pertaining to institutional planning for both academic and academic support services operations. The Deputy Vice Chancellor provides direction and leadership for institutional growth and development with foresight in academic programs and satisfaction of services to the students and employees.  The Deputy Vice Chancellor also ensures liaising with the various national and international regulatory and licensing agencies in higher education.

Dean – SOB

Dean – School of Business

The Dean - School of Business is responsible for planning and executing the academic activities of the school of business in collaboration with the Vice-Chancellor. He is also involved in providing guidelines to faculty and ensuring that their performance meets the academic standards of the institution. The Dean also coordinates with the Academic Support Services to ensure the smooth operations of Skyline and ensure that it maintains an environment conducive to learning.

The Dean - School of Business is responsible for preparing the academic plan for School of Business and for its programs to achieve the Vision and Mission of SUC. This is carried out by following the strategic directions and identifying gaps after analyzing previous academic operations. The Dean initiates the yearly and semester operation plans for academics, learning resources and human resources. The Dean also coordinates with IRQAOA department in maintaining the academic standards set by the Ministry of Education and coordinates in the accreditation process and development of the new academic programs. The Dean explores the possibilities of developing SUC academic standards in line with national and international academic standards.

Dean – SOC

Dean – School of Computing

The Dean - School of Computing is responsible for planning and executing the academic activities of the School of Computing in collaboration with the Vice-Chancellor. He is also involved in providing guidelines to the faculty and ensuring that their performance meets the academic standards of the institution. The Dean also coordinates with the Academic Support Services to ensure the smooth operations of Skyline and that it continues to have an environment conducive to learning.

The Dean - School of Computing is responsible for preparing the academic plan for the school and its programs to achieve the Vision and Mission of SUC. This is carried out by following the strategic directions and identifying gaps after analyzing the previous academic operations. Registrar

The Registrar oversees various services offered to students at SUC and supervise the activities of Administration and Examination department thus supporting the institution in achieving its Vision and mission. Registrar is responsible for monitoring student progression and takes necessary actions to address the student's grievances. Registrar ensures the adherence of policies and procedures by all the students, staff and faculty to help SUC to achieve overall student satisfaction. Registrar monitors students discipline in the campus and hostel facility and also ensures the safety and security of both facilities

GOALS

  1. To ensure that quality education is provided to a diverse student body by meeting the changing needs of the society and developing responsible individuals without discrimination following ethical practices .
  2. To equip students with knowledge, skills and competencies which build lifelong career and creatively contribute to the betterment of business and society.
  3. To lead the department in delivering effective and efficient services to stakeholders.
  4. To manage the student advising, mentoring and progression towards graduation.
  5. To monitor students’ academic progression
  6. To orient the new and continuing students .
  7. To ensure that enrolment of courses is done as per the  graduation plan.
  8. To Supervise the  smooth conduct of  exams and timely publishing of results.
  9. To ensure  keeping students  files and records in safe custody.
  10. To strengthen SUC effort in engagement

DIRQA

Director- Institutional Research, Quality Assurance, Outreach and Accreditation

The Director - Institutional Research, Quality Assurance, Outreach and Accreditation (Director-IRQAOA) oversees the functions of the Institutional Research and Quality Assurance Department, which is a vital unit to improve and maintain the institutional effectiveness by introducing the best practices that help the institution achieve the desired quality standards in academics and academic support services. This department also completes the preparation of documents for accreditation, application for new programs, ranking, listing, articulation and assists the departments and committees in developing and updating their policies and procedures. It undertakes the responsibility of designing the Feedback System of the institution, collecting , and evaluating the feedback data and providing inputs to the decision-makers. The Director also aims to determine the best practices that help in enhancing quality in academics and academic support services and setting internal and external benchmark. The Director - IRQAOA reports to the Vice-Chancellor on the daily operations of the Institutional Research, Quality Assurance, Outreach and Accreditation Department.


GOALS

1. To review the standards for fulfilling the SUC Vision and Mission
2. To develop and review the strategic plan
3. To assist the departments and committees in planning and closing
4. To evaluate the Institutional Effectiveness reports and provide feedback for improvement
5. To evaluate academic performance
6. To provide information to external agencies
7. To facilitate the employee performance evaluation system
8. To provide orientation to faculty and staff on various Quality standards

DASS

Director – Academic Support Services (DASS)

DASS of SUC is responsible to lead and manage the overall academic support functions of SUC in coordination with other AAC members. DASS ensures academic support services are provided to the students and other stake holders in the best possible manner, and continuous professional and managerial development of academic support staff.
DASS supports the implementation of overall strategies of the institution and support the Deputy Vice Chancellor & Vice Chancellor in day to day operations of the University. 

GOALS

1. To ensure that quality education is provided to a diverse student body by meeting the changing needs of the society and developing responsible individuals without discrimination following ethical practices
2. To equip students with knowledge, skills and competencies which build lifelong career and creatively contribute to the betterment of business and society
3. To ensure all the operational goals are achieved by all academic support services departments under purview and making sure all the required support and facilities are provided to employees for operation
4. To engage competent employees and ensure their welfare and facilitate development

DOMC

Director – Marketing and Communications

Director - Marketing and Communications oversees the functions of the Marketing Department, Media and Communications Department, Corporate Affairs Office and Centre for Continuing Learning. Director - Marketing and Communications Department is responsible for creating awareness and opportunities that help students develop their knowledge, skills, values and overall personality. The Director - Marketing and Communications Department is responsible for building a strong brand image, promote core values of SUC to stakeholders and participate in developing strategies. The Director - Marketing and Communications Department is also responsible for supervising the operations of the Corporate Affairs Office.

GOALS

1. To plan and guide the media and communication activities for SEO and SMO, website, portal and FAQs
2. To plan, develop and implement marketing strategies locally and internationally
3. To create brand awareness for SUC among the corporates and schools
4. To facilitate the placement and networking opportunities and strengthen alumni relations
5. To supervise activities related to Memorandum of Understanding and Articulation Agreements

DOPR

Director- Government and Public Relations

The Director - Government and Public Relations oversees the Marketing and Public relation activities. He is responsible for creating awareness and opportunities to help students develop their knowledge, skills, values, and overall personality.

The Director - Government and Public Relations is responsible for building a strong brand image, promote the core values of SUC to stakeholders and participate in developing strategies.

GOALS

1. To facilitate SUC’s brand building in the government sector
2. To facilitate the signing of Memorandums of Understanding and Articulation Agreements
3. To plan, develop and implement marketing strategies in the Arab market locally and internationally
4. To create brand awareness of SUC among public schools
5. To facilitate networking opportunities and strengthen alumni relations
