SUC Startup Conclave

Skyline Startup Conclave is an initiative from Skyline University to create a platform for students to interact with startup partners, entrepreneurs, and venture capitalists to learn the process and intricacies of converting new innovative business ideas into profitable startups.

The first edition of Skyline Startup Conclave was held on February 19, 2019. There was an exhibition and panel discussion with Ms. Claire Vincent and Mr. Akshay Arora as the panelists and they shared their experiences and insights with the students. They were joined by faculty members, Dr. Sakthivel A.M, Dr. Ramakrishna Yanamandra. Dr. Kakul Agha served as the panel moderator. 

This conclave will be held regularly in order to provide continuous interaction and initiative to generate and nurture entrepreneurial spirit in Skyline students. Eventually, Skyline Startup Conclave will ensure that students’ potential business ideas will become profitable startups under the Skyline umbrella.

SUC's Alumni Reunion Dinner 2019

SUC alumni from different batches starting from 1995 onwards gathered at Skyline Campus on February 23, 2019 to reconnect. SUC prepared various fun activities and let them take a trip down memory lane over a sumptuous dinner. 

The alumni are now key decision-makers in various organizations under different sectors including IT, Travel and Tourism, Finance, Retail, and Entertainment, among others. During dinner, they shared valuable international perspectives and talked about how SUC helped them achieve their career goals after obtaining their degree. The homecoming also renewed the alumni’s lifelong connection to Skyline University College.

45 Days Road to Fitness - Eat More Weigh Less

As part of its initiative to support SUC employees in reaching their 45 Days Road to Fitness goal, the Human Resource Department invited Ms. Elvie Ochoa to give a talk on how to eat more, but weigh less. Ms. Ochoa holds a Nutritional Consultancy degree from Total School of Nutrition, Alberta, Canada.

Ms. Ochoa emphasized that there is no need to deprive yourself of food. The key is limiting the intake of high-calorie food that causes one to gain weight and focusing on fiber-rich food like vegetables and fruits instead.

Outreach Program at POLO

“If great things can’t be done, we can still do small things with great love.”

The employees of Skyline University College organized the 3rd community outreach program in POLO OWWA (Philippine Overseas Labor Office - Overseas Workers Welfare Administration) in Dubai last February 15, 2019. The objective of the program is to help the victims of human trafficking.

SUC staff prepared food and organized games to bring happiness to the victims and take their mind off their problems.  In relation to the signed MoU for International Collaboration between Skyline and Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges (RMMC), RMMC International Alumni Association also supported the outreach program.

Toastmasters Club Meeting Cultural Diversity

To give every club member an opportunity to practice their presentation skills in front of a group, a Toastmasters meeting is organized regularly at SUC. Last week, the club members met and gave speeches on the topic of Cultural Diversity. The club meeting was observed and mentored by Toastmaster Amjad Ali, Area Director at Toastmasters International.

20th Skyline Cup Cricket

The 20th Skyline Cup Cricket is ongoing. In today’s thrilling cricket match, Skyline defeated Gulf Medical University Ajman by 112 runs. SUC is moving on to the cricket semi-finals on February 19, 2019.

45 Days Road to Fitness: Happy Heart’s Day Relay

This Valentine’s Day, SUC faculty and staff enjoyed an activity that is good for the heart – the Happy Heart’s Day Relay, which was prepared by the Human Resource Department as part of the 45 Days Road to Fitness: The Biggest Loser edition.

The goal was to collect the most number of hearts at the shortest possible time. The employees had fun in relay races involving sack race and hula hoop.

UAE Innovation Month

To encourage the culture of innovation in the university, Skyline University College participates in the week-long activities to celebrate the UAE Innovation Month. Several local and federal government entities and universities have join the exhibition at the University City Hall, Sharjah, to feature ground-breaking concepts and works.

Skyline features the innovative project of its student Ms. Sidra Naeem. Ms. Sidra’s concept is the EPI TRACK, a smart health care watch with sensors along with a mobile application. The sensors installed in it will send an alert to the family members whenever a patient might have an epileptic attack. On the first day of the exhibit, Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, the Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, visited the SUC stand and commended this innovative project.

SUC’s mission is to deliver Innovative, Enterprising, and Techno-Creative Education. To accomplish this mission, it gives full support to aspiring entrepreneurs like Ms. Sidra. Apart from this, it established the Skyline Entrepreneurship and Innovation Club (SEIC) Centre, which encourages budding entrepreneurs with business strategies and improve their skills in all aspects of business under the full supervision and guidance of SUC faculty members and experts from the industry.

MOU Signing with American University in the Emirates

Skyline University College Library department and American University in the Emirates Library department signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 12, 2019, in the premises of American University in the Emirates to establish cooperation in research, education, and culture between educators and students in the United Arab Emirates. This MoU was initiated by the Library Departments of both universities.

Mr. Sheik Maideen, Head of SUC’s Library Department and Mr. Elangovan Alagumalai, Manager of AUE’s Library, signed on behalf of their respective university libraries.

MOU signed with the RMMC

Skyline University College (SUC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges' (RMMC) in the Philippine Consulate, Dubaion February 11, 2019. The MoU was signed by Philippine Consul General H.E. Mr. Paul Raymund Cortes, Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges' (RMMC) President, Mr. Kristoffer Franz Mari Millado, and SUC Dean, Prof. Mohammad In’airat. The MoU highlights the international collaboration between SUC and RMMC on research, community services and faculty development. The event was attended by Dr. Sharon Mendoza and Mr. Mohammad Rasheed and the delegates from RMMC.

Consul General of South Africa Visits SUC

Skyline University College received a courtesy visit from H.E. Mogobo David Magabe, Consulate General of South Africa, earlier today, February 2, 2019. SUC Executive Director and COEC Mr. Nitin Anand together with the Dean, Prof. Mohammad In’airat, Head of Marketing and Creative Communication, Mr. Rakesh Gaur, and Deputy Director for Government Relations, Mr. Firas Al Tabbaa welcomed His Excellency.

Mr. Anand briefed H.E about Skyline and the programs offered under its School of Business and School of IT. The executives from SUC discussed the possibilities of collaboration with Universities in South Africa for faculty & student exchange through support of the Consulate General Office. Skyline also proposed to allocate a scholarship fund through the Consulate for the  South African nationals living in the UAE willing to pursue their higher education.

45 Days Road to Fitness - Zumba

It’s the 3rd day of SUC’s 45 Days Road to Fitness: The Biggest Loser edition. The faculty and staff worked up a sweat to the rhythms and beats of Zumba music. With the energetic Zumba instructors from ValO’8, Skyline employees had fun and burned a ton of calories! To encourage the employees to do their best, the Human Resource Department awarded the most energetic dancer, Mr. Nikhilesh Kumar of the Admin Department, and gave free gym, aerobics, and yoga vouchers to those who participated courtesy of ValO’8.
